2009 Director Goals
Policy Manual/ Long range plan –
- review – update/change as needed
Goal 1: The library will be a source for information and answers to questions on a broad array of topics.
- Utilize weekly column for highlighting collections and resources
- Web Page
- Update web page and provide monthly updates
- Provide training to staff on resources and use of said resources available on web pages
- Reconnect with the “welcome wagon” and provide information for new residents.
- Publicize what the library has through word of mouth and community involvement.
Goal 2: The library will address the public’s need for skills relating to finding, evaluating, and using information effectively.
- Create a brochure/handout on using the Dewey Decimal system
- Broaden work with school district and RRCC to present and distribute information on library skills and library resources.
Goal 3: The library will provide materials that address the desires for self-directed personal growth and development opportunities.
- Relabel adult collection shelf ends to accurately reflect shelving.
Goal 4: The library will be a source for current topics and titles.
- Create booklists for juvenile and adult collections-web-based?
- Continue Family Nights (monthly during school year), Summer and Winter Reading, Borderland Reads, class visits (to library and to classes), Teen Read Week program
- Improve publicity for programs
- Promote use of the meeting room for non-library groups.

I would like to spend some time over the course of the year prioritizing our technology needs and determining how to meet them. We have a technology plan that recognized things were changing rapidly and the library would need to be flexible to adapt and meet current needs.
