Next week is the last week of youth summer programming. Libratory will meet on Wednesday, August 7th at 11am for the final time of the summer. The last storytime will be Thursday, August 8th at 11am and the last Big Play for the summer will be Friday, August 9th from 10:30 – noon. Crafters’ Café will meet on Tuesday, August 6th from 11 am – 1 pm. Bring your current art or craft project, enjoy a beverage, good conversation and make progress on whatever you are working on.

National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6th from 4 – 7 pm. The Library will have free books for kids of all ages. Everyone can continue reading and claiming free books until September. So select a book and read in August.

The Celtic Music duo Willow Brae will perform at the library on Tuesday, August 13th at 3pm. Join us for a lovely concert of seldom heard plucked and wind instruments playing traditional Celtic music as well as joyous Irish and Scottish dance tunes.

Animal stories almost always tug at the heart strings and Mattie, Milo and Me by Anne Abel is a memoir of her life with two dogs, the first Mattie dies suddenly and to fight off depression Anne adopts Milo who unbeknownst to her has aggressive tendencies. Even as she realizes Milo is dangerous she wants to give him a chance at a good life.

I’m pretty sure I’ve written about Kelley Armstrong’s Haven’s Rock series before. The Boy Who Cried Bear is set in the well-hidden town surrounded by forest created as a refuge for those who need to disappear. Eric,a young boy taught to track animals by Sheriff Eric Dalton, fears a bear is stalking a hiking party. Detective Casey Duncan and her husband the Sheriff take the danger seriously and try to locate the threat before it is too late.

The Final Act of Juliette Willoughby by Ellery Lloyd is a mystery that no one knew wJoas a mystery. Let’s end today with three lighter titles The Best Life Book Club by Sheila Roberts is full of fresh starts and good books. Alexandria Bellefleur has written a fun novel about a lovelorn romance novelist and a divorce lawyer cohosting a podcast offering dating advice in Truly, Madly Deeply. When Grumpy Met Sunshine by Charlotte Stein is tagged as a modern Cinderella story with warmth and heart.
