Motion by Nevanen, second by Winkel to approve the March bills. All approved.
Director’s Report – March circulation was up 8% over February and up 16% over last March. It feels good to have circulation going up instead of down. Storytime attendance has been increasing, the last Thursday in March we had nine families for 24 people with four families picking up themed book bags. April 1st storytime only had 9, maybe due to increasing number of cases locally, as Beth reported everyone present wanted to stay apart.
We are beginning to increase our stealth programming. We will have a handful of Poetry month activities available in the building. We will be turning around the puzzles shelves in the junior room.
Old Business – upcoming programs – storytime will continue to the end of April, takeout crafts available for teens and adults, libratory activities for elementary students, April social media posts about citizen science and financial literacy.
Fireplace insert – still requesting bids per Ted
Legal Aid Kiosk – set up and working, beginning to get word out, it is available to use
Wall Mural – work has begun
Policy – Lending policy was approved unanimously on motion by Kostiuk, second by Winkel.
New Business – Beth Nelson, youth services and circulation associate will be leaving at the end of May. We will wait and post the position in July.
What are you reading? – Ashley is really enjoying The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah, while Paul is reading Trio by William Boyd and looking at reading some Hemingway after watching the wonderful documentary about Hemingway that just aired. Heather read Black by Ted Dekker and is loving the Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery, MaryJo is enjoying Winter in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand, Mona is reading Dewey the Library Cat, Dick finished Leave Only Footprints by Conor Knighton and Diane is reading The Enigma Game by Elizabeth Wein and The Black Church by Henry Lewis Gates.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at 4:30 pm.
