International Falls Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes
January 12, 2022
Present: Diane Adams – Library Director, Paul Nevanen and Mona Johnson.
No quorum.
Nevanen signed bills, will approve in February.
Director’s Report – December circulation was slightly above December 2020 but below November 2021, which isn’t surprising as December is usually slow. We ended the year 5% above our physical circulation total for 2020. The goal for 2022 will be to build on that increase and keep moving in a positive direction.
Storytime began again on January 6th with 11 in attendance with five families. We also added back the chance to play with our STEAM toys following storytime. One family called after storytime with sick kids and asked us to pull together books to pick up. I am glad we are getting the word out that we will pull together materials for people to pick up if they don’t think they should be coming in and spending time at the library.
Interest is slowly picking up for the snowshoes. We are hearing a lot of buzz about them, but still need to move the buzz to actually coming in and checking them out. So please keep talking about them and whatever other items you are also excited to use.
The focus in January will be to finish cataloging Playaways and begin promoting that collection and getting ready for the annual report.
Next Friends of the Library book sale will be Saturday, January 15th from 11am – 1pm.
What are you reading? – Dick just started Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles, Diane finished The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan, Mona is reading Tell Me No Lies by A V Geiger and Paul is reading The Company of Adventurers: the story of the Hudson’s Bay Company by Louise Hall Tharp originally published in 1946.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 at 4:30 pm.
Meeting ended at 4:45 pm.
