Storytime starts back up tomorrow, Thursday, January 10th at 10:30 am. Join us for about thirty minutes of stories, rhymes, songs and more about winter followed by about thirty minutes of free play with our special collection of early learning toys. Make storytime a regular part of your winter and drive away cabin fever by playing and interacting with other young families each Thursday morning through the end of April.
Supernatural Lake Superior with Chad Lewis is a free program sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System on Thursday, January 17th at 6:30 pm for ages 13-adult. Take a visit to the strange side of this Great Lake! With bizarre tales of UFOs hovering over the water, phantom ships disappearing into thin air, haunted businesses along the shore, deadly sea serpents, mysterious creatures, and sinister men in black, this program will change the way you view the majestic lake. Then be sure and check out the online resource Mango Languages, which now has a free app. Get 40 – 50 free lessons in over 70 different languages as well as access to movies and other content to help make the process of learning a new language as smooth and stress free as possible.
Consumer Reports is a respected source for information about products and services. The library subscribes to the print and online versions of the magazine. You can look at the magazine in the library and borrow all but the latest issue. You can also access the online version via the library website, entering the uesrid and password available at the library, or by calling us during open hours. The online version has all the content of the paper version plus additional reviews of products and more brands and models surveyed.
The New York Times online edition is available for free for International Falls Public Library card holders. The library wants to make sure that community members have access to verified, accurate news. If you are in the library or using our wi-fi you can connect to nytimes.com for free. If you are at home, you can access the site via the library webpage and enter the access code listed in the directions and gain 24 hours of unlimited access to the New York Times. Once you have entered the code on the website, you can access via their app on tablets and phones, but have to enter the code from the website every 24 hours.
RB Digital is the library source for online magazines. Create an account, download the app for tablets and phones and access 136 magazines including “Guns-n-Ammo,” “Petersen’s Hunting,” “Outdoor Photographer,” “Dr. Oz: the Good Life,” “Cabin Life” and 131 other titles on a broad array of subjects.
